Fishing Around is a community research project led by Strathnaver Museum exploring the fishing culture of north west Sutherland. The project began in early 2022 and is funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Highland Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund.

Using items in the collection we will explore our fishing heritage at a series of community events to share stories, photos, and knowledge about the objects in the collection. From November we will be using one of the largest objects in our collection the WK322 'Iris' as a template to build a seaworthy traditional fishing boat!
